Demir Hisar is a town in the western part of Republic of Macedonia. It is a seat of the Demir Hisar municipality. This small settlement has an absolute Macedonian ethnic majority. The Slepchenski Monastery is dating from 14 century. It was a centre of the Macedonian renaissance. The settlement is situated along the main road between the important Macedonian cities of Bitola and Kičevo. The town of Demir Hisar has 2,593 residents.
